Prague Spring International Music Competition – Flute
In May, the 71st annual Prague Spring International Music Competition took place. 404 young musicians from 49 countries applied to compete on oboe and flute.
The Round II of FLUTE category has taken place at the National House of Vinohrady as well as the Round I. The jury could listen to 12 candidates who performed excellently and aimed to get to the Finals which took place on May 14th in Dvořák Hall at Rudolfinum.
The repertoire was around 50 minutes long and the jurors and the visitors could hear pieces such as Sonatas from Bohuslav Martinů, Jan Novák or Carl Reinecke, Gabriel Feuré’s Fantasies, Sonatas by Johann Sebastian Bach and also a premiere of work composed for the IMC Prague Spring „Intruduzione e Tema noc Variazioni“ by Jaroslav Pelikán.
It took a while for the jurors to make the right decision but in the end, they decided for 4 candidates, who passed to the Finals. These candidates were announced during the speech of chairwoman of the jury and here are their names:
